When and where to use epoxy vs Polyurea?

It may surprise you to hear, but there are in fact times and places that epoxies do shine. Large scale warehouse spaces and indoor temperature-controlled areas, not prone to settling or large temperature shifts, are good candidates for epoxy flooring. These specific spaces are perfect for epoxies due to the low-cost nature of epoxy and will not shift and crack the epoxies due to their brittle nature. Epoxies can only be used effectively on indoor spaces that have those characteristics, as shifting concrete, temperature shifts, and small concrete pad pours all will cause failure points in the epoxy.

Polyurea and polyaspartic, however, is a great solution for any outdoor spaces, indoor spaces, and large scale warehouses. This product’s only negative is that the price point is generally higher than epoxy’s. Though, if you read about the cost-analysis over the lifespan of the products in our other blog post, you will find that polyurea out-performs epoxy and other DIY kits in price over the expected lifespans of each product.
